Water Well Construction

Water Well Construction

The well is the most common way to obtain groundwater suitable for human use, and in implementation of the integrated development plan by finding renewable water sources and creating water wells in an environmentally friendly way, Waterfine is implementing a project that is a productive feasibility study with scientific measures on the basis of which it drills wells with high technology, which helps to create a project commensurate with the quantities of available water.

Drilling water wells

Drilling water wells: The wells are classified according to their purpose as follows:

N
Drilling exploratory wells in order to search for groundwater.
N
Drilling productive wells for the exploitation of groundwater.
N
Drilling monitoring wells in order to monitor the changes taking place in the water basin and to be used for the purpose of conducting pumping experiments.
N
Drilling industrial grafting wells to recharge groundwater.

Well Casing

The purpose of providing casing services is to:

N
Provides a connection to the groundwater.
N
Provide pathway for bringing the water to the surface.
N
Prevents loose soil, sediment, rock, and contaminants from entering the well.
N
To protect the pump and related equipment.

Water wells casing types are as follows:

N
Steel pipes.
N
Stainless steel tubes to prevent rust and have a longer life.
N
Thermoplastic tubes in salt wells.
N
Fiberglass tubes in salt wells.

Casings are selected based on the quality of the water, the depth of the well and the diameter of the well.

Well Screen

If well pumps water from a sand or gravel aquifer, a well screen is usually attached to the bottom of the casing. The screen is a sieve or strainer-like cylinder that extends into the aquifer and allows water to move through it, while preventing sand and gravel from entering the well.

Cement

The rotary drilling method produces a larger hole in diameter than the casing. The distance between the outer part of the well casing and the wall of the bore hole is called the annular space. After placing the well casing in the bore hole, it is necessary to fill the annular space by specific mixture material called cement to prevent surface water and other contaminants from entering the well.

Water Well Development

After a well is drilled, it is necessary to remove drilling mud, cuttings, and loose sediment from the bottom of the well and from around the screen. This process, which promotes the movement of water into the well, is called development.
